Aramis Akhmedov, of Makhachkala, Dagestan which is in Russia on the western shore of the Caspian Sea (I had to look that up)... designs and machines some very appealing modified profile scales for production folding knives. He machines full 3D contoured scales which is several levels above my work product. I'm really impressed with his abilities.

I'm particularly impressed with his redesign of a Yojimbo 2. His scale redesign is like fitting the knife for a tux... very elegant and sophisticated looking.

I do not do 3D with my CNC... I do 2D and 2-1/2D... but I wanted that more refined appearance... so this is what I came up with for a first go around. I'll be machining the scales tomorrow and will post the results...

Machined the scales but didn't have the 1/2" ball nose mill bit to do the thumb scallop. I forgot it got sent off with a batch of bits for resharpening.

I added the inlaid kanji character for SAMURAI and finished off things with a 6K twill carbon fiber sculpted pocket clip.

The first two images are of the earth brown G10 machining coupon showing the reverse side pocketing and front side operations...
