program to edit mov files

Which programs can edit mov files. Specifically I need to crop a section from the middle of the movie and ideally crop the view.

Quicktime Pro to cut, take out, rearrange ,strip out the sound, overlay sound, insert new .mov clips and change file extensions...

i'm not sure about cropping the view in though...

Don't remind me about the mov files. My Nikon camera shoots .mov movies. Impossible to edit without spending a lot of money (on Quicktime) or time (on complicated unorthodox methods). Can't understand why this format it's still used in digital cameras. It's plain theft IMO. There are better formats ... and they can be edited by FREE software!

quicktime pro can be free software !

...with normal quicktime you can convert .mov into .avi...or aiff...

Google for VirtualdubMod. It does mpeg2 (vob, etc...) and it costs ... nothing :thumbup:
You have to save as .avi using a video codec or Matroska if you want to keep the mpeg2 stream
