Progress of folding Ronin (Yojimbo?)

I'm not sure if I have the model names right, but I'm curious as to the progress of the folding Snody/Janich/Spyderco Ronin?

Just saw some passing references, and would think this would make a perfect first Spydie to add to my EDC rotation.

Looks like there's been a run of the FB Ronin, but where I'm going, it's not legal to carry FB's... :(

Thanks!

From what I have read on this forum, Sal is not sure that he is going to produce the folding Ronin. I sure hope he does. I am sure it would be a very successful knife for Spyderco.

KWM,

Thanks for the update. I agree, I think it would be quite successful too. I think it has a lot of potential for being a decent utility knife as well as a MBC/SD one -- nice Wharncliffe style for precise cutting, very high grind with small shoulders, easy to sharpen, good grip, decent finger choil for sliding-forward protection, small-ish blade... what don't you like?

Mr. Glesser, I'd like to say that if you can produce a folding Ronin (especially with the compression lock!) I'll be first in line to pick one up!

=)

Sal, if you're listening. ME TOO! I loved the Ronin prototype and would love a Yojimbo folder and I haven't seen one yet.

Thanx,
Ed

Mike said that his preference for the ultimate folding Ronin (Yojimbo) would be with the same construction as the ATR. AS soon as the ATR prodcution is far enough along (several months), we'll be able to determine whether or not we can do it. The integral Titanium compression lock on the ATR tested well into MBC rang and would probably be an ideal construction method for this design. The Ronin folder design could be built with about 6-8 parts total, but they are very close tolerance parts.

Mr. Glesser,

Thank you for the update.

I look forward to seeing the FB Ronin, and wish you the best of success in getting the folding one to work out.
