I've taken the desert coating off my battle rat, sanded the blade to a nice satin finish and today I did a mustard patina. WOW, it looks cool !!

I will resand it and give it a few more coats but I prefer it so much - has a nice worn in look and is what you'd expect a BR to look like after 50 years or so of use !!

Cant wait for my leather sheath from Dwayne to come - will try get some pics up asap !!

All you do is take mustard (or any condiment for that matter) and apply (dabbing motion) it to your blade (must be high carbon) and leave it for 3 - 4 hours. Then wash it off and repeat the procedure a couple of times after which you oil the blade.

You get what almost looks likes a damascus pattern forming and gives the blade and antiqued look !!

Its easy to reverse too so if you dont like a bit of sandpaper will take all the tarnishing off !!

Hi Brendan, how is the ankle doing? Have you been able to get pics of the knife? Would sure like to see it.
