For christmass I got an 18" project CAK made by Santosh (I think, as it has the same arrow mark >---> as the Bilton we gave to mom and as the 12"AK I have in my Maxpedition Jumbo murse).
The black horn handle has shrunk and is separating slightly, although after a week of extreme abuse it hasn't changed at all! I doubt it even needs to be replaced, but the poor thing has been pre-destined to be a project khuk and that's ok by me. I am either going to use Bocote scales or a stag handle. I'm a complete amateur and if not for the great artists here I wouldn't be so inspired. Going to play for a bit and see what evolves. Santosh has talent and I like his work alot.
I have been chopping frozen hardwood all week and I'll be darned if this beast doesn't ask for more. After using it all day to pathfind into the woods behind the house I handle my 17" WWII(Bura) and it feels like it's light as a feather.
Now I understand what so much wonderful feedback regarding the bigger AK's is about. What a great khukri, well made and properly tempered.
If I had to fight zombies today I'd use my WWII in my right hand as a speedy snicker-snak and the 18"CAK in my left in some sort of oddworld florentine style, as the CAK is like a shield, I wouldn't want to project a kick towards a wielder of a like blade...
Thanks for all the inspiring pictures and instruction folks,
mark
