Hello!
A fellow forum member (uxo2) recently asked me to fix up a beat up Caly he got from another member.
AKA fully restore the baby and make it as BA as possibly haha
Well as you can tell from the first 3 pictures this Caly was very used..
Blade was insanely scratched up, rust inside the innards, screws scratched up, scale damage, ect..
Basically everything about it was messed up lol
I suck at explaining so Ill skip ahead ha
I did the usual and did a full clean up on it. Following that I did a heavy layered wash on the blade as well as darkening all the screws, pivot, clip, and liners.
After that I did a stonewash to add some character and then acouple after touches to lighten up certin areas on the blade for added contrast
Im quite happy with the end result
I was really glad that the hamon line came out as contrasted as it did
Plus it took a wicked edge very quickly (first time with ZDP and wow!) and it really looks great against the dark tones on the blade
I did my best to show the darkened tones of screws ect..but it was hard to show considering the lighting
here are the pics! Let me know what you think!
EDIT: Those arent markings near the scales( closest pivot) Its just oil residue
