Project- "Hawk of Paradise", Hawk Knives Deadlock hand engraved and selectively anodized

Getting started on the next commission piece, I had this idea pop into my head a bit ago.. a feather pattern to tie into the Hawk Knives name with each feather having a dark->light blue fade. Not gonna be easy, but should be a stunner when it's done!

Got the outlines and spines cut, time to start cutting the texture

Pheeew....SO many cuts That shimmer is unreal though, time to get these unmounted and knock out a little chassis embellishment

Alright, got the logo on the chassis polished up and engraved the background with the feather pattern to tie it all together... time to start prepping for anodizing

That face when you realize you've carved away a measurable percentage of the pieces you're working on

Three of the four colors down...there's a 90v blurple in the cuts, 60v gold borders, and 24v base dark blue. Time to start fading the edges of each feather out to a 32v light blue

Well, that was a pain I think it really paid off though, it definitely adds a whole other dimension of depth to the feathers

I've dubbed it the "Hawk of Paradise"! All finished up with this Hawk Knives titanium "Deadlock" model C for PVK , keep an eye on the site for it assuming Jeremiah doesn't keep it for himself

Fantastic work! How long does something like this take you? I can draw a pretty mean stick figure in less than a day - heh, the detail that you can do, in metal, with no second tries is incredible - and I'm assuming you're doing all this freehand?

This about 80-90 hours from concept to finished product, all by hand.

but end result was worth it though. this one is a personal favorite. really great and unique. carving, colors and all, love it. just awesome.
