I was reading my copy of Custom Knifemaking by Tim McCreight. In the book there is a picture of John Stahl's collection. All the knives have the same basic profile, but each one was done by a different maker. They all vary and you can definately recognize certain makers styles in the knives. They have different grinds, different pin configurations, different file work, and different blade and handle finishes. I thought it was a very cool idea. It got me thinking that it might be fun if a bunch of makers got together and did something like this. What I had envisioned was something like this.
Anybody interested gets together and we decide on a simple knife design(profile only). Then everybody makes their knife. We post pictures to see how everybody's knives turned out, and discuss the differences. Then we sell or auction the whole collection and give the money to some worthy organization. Is anybody up for something like this?
