Proliferation of old threads??

I have noticed an increase in the number of old threads being resurrected the last few days.

Just wondering if this is a result of the database getting "stirred up" during the server upgrade, or has the search function be reactivated for non paying members, etc. etc.

Not that it's a problem, just seemed odd to see so many in a short period.

I've never understood the search function disabled for freeloaders.

Almost all NEW questions have been discussed previously and it just seems to me that forcing newbies (or cheapasses like me) to start new threads on previously discussed topics just loads the server MORE.

:confused::D

I've always thought it was counterproductive as well. Just results in lots of duplication of effort.

Although it is an incetive to become a paying member.............

Search was disabled because on the old servers, it put too much of a load and slowed everything down. As much o a problem as those servers were, it was an intolerable extra strain. Spark wants to open it up to them if the new servers work out.

But we are talking about two different questions here. Some people want old threads reopened instead of new ones started, while others don't like being tricked into reading -- and responding to -- pages from members long gone.

Anyway, anyone who wants to search can use BladeForums.com Google Search.
