Proof knife or years of service

Does anyone know? I have a couple buck bowie knifes that do not have a series# attached to them. I inherited from my grandpa who worked for buck knife making sheath.
I seen a listing for a proof knife that made me think about it.
Do proof knifes, or years of service knifes have less monetary value than the same knife with a series#?
