Hi, all. We're still in good autumn and various wild food are getting ready to eat.
This time, I would like to show some of them here in Japan.

These are propaqules or bulbil? I dont know what to say in English, just looked up in a Dictionary/
This is a type of potato formed above (not under) the ground. It is one of the method of reproduction
of this plant, which also makes a great potato under the ground.

Here's a shot of collection and the blade is included for size comparison with its length of 3.5 inches.

Most of them are in size of 0.5 or less inches. They can be eaten raw but better cooked like this way.

propagule rice. As each propagules are small wild potato with it's own taste and flavor, which is added to the rice.

These are Akebis. I posted about this fruit several years ago. They were sent from my parents.

Lastly, some mantis shots. It seems she (its female) liked to play with me.

Thanks for watching.

Thanks Fujita, you're making me hungry!

What sort of knives do the local shops cary in your area? I'm a big fan of Japanese steel.

Thanks, sutured.

I think many of the major brands in America are also popular in Japan as well.
SAK is quite popular among Japanese hikers and climbers.

Thanks, guys. Happy to see you enjoyed.

According to the Wikipedia, it has a scientific name 'Dioscorea japonica'.
It is an inconspicuosu vine plant but quite common at the edge of forest.
The yam is more popular than the propaguls but it is quite tricky to dig it out.

Thanks again for your responses.
