Propane Forge Questions

Hello everyone.

I have a few questions that I just need to ask, even though, in my opinion, they seem very elementary but I just haven't firgured it all out yet. It hasn't clicked. Please bear with me.. here I go.

On the subject of Burners... what is the difference between Liquid Propane (LP as i understand it) and a Ventri burner?? please clarify this one for me.

Another thing... I'm sure alot of you have seen the Mini Freon Tank forge on Ron Reil's website. (for those of you who havent heres the link: http://www.webpak.net/~rreil/design.html) .. well, up until I saw this mini forge.. I was pretty sure that the only way to make a propane forge was to have the main forge chamber.. a pipe going into it hooked on the other end by an air supply.. and propane fed into a hole somewhere in that tube.. but i saw this mini freon tank forge and it looked to me like it doesnt have an air supply??

i wonder if the answer to my first question will answer this second question on it's own.. i hope so.

LP is simply the fuel, a venturi is a type of buner. Gas forges usually operate with one of two burner types. The first is the venturi you mentioned. This is nothing more than a pipe with the outside end "belled", with the fuel feed located generally in the center of the "belled" end. When the fuel is turned on the gas being forced into the tube causes a small vacaum, which in turn sucks in air for combustion. The second type is a forced air burner. This uses a blower which forces air through the burner tube/pipe. The fuel feed on this type is normally located somewhere between the blower and the burner end (the end going into the forge body/chamber) Hope this helps.
