Hello, I'm Julian. I'm a beginner knife maker and I'm going to build a propane heat treat oven out of a paint can and fireproof concrete ( I don't know what that's named in english). But my question is: Is it save to use, is it going to be hot is it not going to explode šŸ˜….
Please help me with your experience.

I am likewise very new to this, and use a very simple forge I built from insulated firebrick and use a propane blowtorch. If you are making smaller knives out of 1084 steel, it works extremely well. I'll post a link to how to make one. There's also plenty of YT videos on how to build what you are looking to do.

Here's a video for making a "coffee can forge" which is a smaller version of what you are looking to do.

I have a coffee can forge that works quite well. It's a good start. Only drawback is the exterior of your paint can will get quite hot. I put some firebrick under the legs when I'm using it.

Does it cool fast, or does it stay the whole day hot/warm

My firebrick forge cools in about 20 minutes. The outside of it never gets hot enough that you can't touch it, even at full temp. Except right at the hole. I do cover the back side of it with another firebrick to keep the heat in as well.
