Proper care for kabar mark 1?

I recently picked up a Kabar USN Mark 1 partially serrated blade (kraton handle). I use it a lot when I'm hiking or camping, I've used it to cut rope and cloth, split wood and occasionally for field dressing game. Now the first few times I used it, it was strictly for game cleaning, but then I started using it for other tasks. My question is, does it need to be cleaned before and after dealing with game? If so, with what? And also, is there anything I need to do to care for it? It's carbon steel. 1095 Cro-Van if I'm not mistaken.
