Proper cleaning of a Manix 2?

The lock on my Manix 2 (s110v) is starting to collect detritus & pocket lint & I'd like to clean it out before it gets to gunked up.

I'd also like to clean out the dirt that's collecting in all of the crannies on the grippy part of the scales.

My first thought was to just wash it in warm soapy water with a toothbrush, but then I thought it best to check in here first to make sure I don't do anything stupid.

Can anyone advise how to go about cleaning these parts without ruining my knife?

Thank you.

You could use a magic eraser on the scales, compressed air might be enough to blow out the lock.

Run it under the tap.
I like hot water.

Scales you can use a old tooth brush and dish soap.

Blow it out.. Canned air, compressor
And oil the pivot.

This is how I clean a folder.

Step 1: use a dry tooth to remove any loose debris.

Step 2: drench the pivot and scales with dish soap and scrub with tooth brush.

Step 3: run under HOT water until all soap is gone.

Step 4: dry with paper towel and shake the knife hard while wrapped in the paper towel. (Knife closed)

Step 5: inspect to make sure as much water has been removed as possible.

Step 6: add one drop of oil per side of pivot area. I like WD-40 or BM Blue Lube.

If you follow these steps you should end up with a very clean and well functioning knife.
