Proper edge angle for D2?

I'm giving a Benchmade 32 a spin as my main work knife. I reprofile most of my folders on my Sharpmaker at 30 degrees inclusive & microbevel & touch up at 40 degrees. I've often read that D2 doesn't do as well as the more modern powder steels at thinner angles but I'm not sure what constitutes a narrow angle in this context. I'll mostly be cutting butcher paper & opening cardboard boxes. Will the angles on my Sharpmaker work okay? Thanks.

No one can answer that question for you with certainty.......Best to
use the knife and make adjustments as/if needed.
