Proper Knife Storage

Hey guys, what's the best way to store a knife? None of the Becker's I purchased came with cardboard/paper sleeves for the blades, they just came inside the sheath. Is it alright to keep them in there? or is that taboo? The only knife I purchased that came in a sleeve (and not in the sheath) was the OKC RTAK-II, and I left that as is in the sleeve.

Thanks for reading.

All my knives with sheaths live in their sheath.
Leather can attract moisture and hold it next to the blade - more a concern with carbon steel UNcoated blades, tho it could affect the edge. I've never had a problem, but most of my gear lives in a pretty dry 2nd floor room.

If you intend to put it away for awhile, give the exposed metal a swipe with some kind of rust preventative - oil, wax, whatever.

If I am storing them for an extended period, which is rare, I wipe them with oil, stick them in the sheath, and put them in the gun safe. Never had a problem.

who stores knives anyway? aren't they all on your belt, in constant use? Virginial law requires that you clean your knife daily (and that would be all of them, since they're all on your belt right?), so what are we even talking about?

Bladite must have a heavy duty belt then.

Store all my knives in their sheaths, also those which have a leather sheath.

Folders goes in a little cordura zippered bag. Folders which are users, just lay around here and there...in the car, kitchen, work, junkdrawer, etc.

All mine stay in the sheath. They are all taken out every few days, at least anyway. I used them all, so I am not worried about any large amount of rust forming before I catch it and used the knife to get it off.

I ask because I was watching some Youtube clips and nutnfnacy had a segment about how you should store your knives. I wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking some cardinal rule or something.
