Well in exactly 5 months from today I will be arriving in Atlanta for Blade.
The flights are booked and paid for.
The Hotel is booked and paid for.

The orders are in and insofar as Traditional's are concerned I have knives inbound from Jerry Halfrich, Rick Menefee and Joel Chamblin.(A tip. Always hang out with Blues at Blade, he knows where all the good stuff is:D)

I also have a beautiful traditional set to collect after Blade from Howard Hitchmough. A matching large and small pair of lockback folders.

I am looking so forward to it and indeed I hope to make Atlanta in June a regular annual pilgrimage.

I hope to see many of my BF "Traditional Forum" friends again.........and I wish you all a wonderful 2011:)

Steven

Steven, All I can say is you lucky dog :D
I can only dream of going to something like that, it would be such a great thing to meet people from the forum there...and then on top of that..to see the makers and their wares!! man..Have a great time, I am extremely jealous of you ( in a good kind of way)
Please...could you do me a favour...if you are going to hang with blues? have a word to him and take lots of pictures for us folk who can only dream of being there?
I know this is a big ask, and there is no pressure at all.
Duncan

Congratulations. :D
But I hope never to go. It would mean a swift destruction of my checkbook and probably my marriage. As if this Forum didn't have me spending enough, just being there in person would really make my slipjoint addiction go off the rails.
Have fun.

Hey Steven,
In all seriousness...and this goes for quite a few other forum members here as well...my place is always open to the Tradionalists, the jug will always be on the ready:)
Why in fact it could be the official stop over lounge in New Zealand for the knife folk in Traditional land and I would always take a couple of days of to show my knife mates a few of the scenes around here, and show you guys a bit of Kiwi hospitality.

Visa, Master Card..all accepted :D

"But I hope never to go. It would mean a swift destruction of my checkbook and probably my marriage"
That was bloody funny to read  ( but true...how could you stop spending???)

Very cool Steven . I'm sure you will have a great time...

I look forward to seeing your new goodies, and hearing about your trip.

Meeting and spending a little hobbled time with Steven was a pleasure last year.

This year, I will be full bore god willing and should be able to be around all weekend instead of the 1/2 day Friday. :D.

Steven, as always, let me know if I can lend a hand.

Room is booked....lookin forward to it :cool:

I'm hoping to make it down this year. I was there in 2009, but missed it last year. Fortunately, I'm only 2 hours away, so I can do the last minute thing if I can't get it nailed down ahead of time. I'm also hoping to have finished some slip joints (that I'm not embarassed to show people) for my traditional friends to CE and CF.

Fun fun fun! Looking forward to seeing you both:)

Steven,

I also have my room booked and table, looking forward to saying hi again. We spoke briefly at the Guild show in Sept of 09. Let me know if I might be able to bring something along for you;).

Hey, watch it Erickson!...this is a non-commercial venue and all sneaky tactics (and knives) must go through and be approved by committee (me) first. :p
(Now go to the corner and stay there until you're told to come out. ;))

Congratulations. :D
