Proper Screw Sizes/Names for MolleBack Sheaths / BTK Klip question...long pieces pics

I want to go to the hardware store and get some extra screws for use in trying to connect my ESEE-4 kydex sheath ESEE-3/4 Molleback I got with an RC-3, as well as ones to use to connect my BladeTech locks, BladeTech Klips?

When I took the 3 off of the MB, I was left with some various size screws that I assume I can use but I think I was trying to clip it through a wrong sized hole....I'd have to look again.

I still have the Molle Strips that I can take screws from for the 4, I'd just have to dig it out.

Also, here is the question about the BTK - it comes with two different depths of screws as well as two long spacer-looking pieces. I have taken pictures for you to check out. Can anyone tell me what the two long pieces are for, and what the difference between screw sizes is?

Worst case scenario you can take the screws with you to the hardware store and lay your screws(thread to thread and tip to tip) next to the screws you are about to purchase), if they are right the threads will fit together perfectly.

"8-32" is what you're looking for, length wise depends on your application. They are relatively inexpensive so buy a couple up and down from the length if you're unsure.

I "am" something of a "horder"....

Thanks for the sizing of the threads. I have a set to create threads in metal and have done it before but didn't want to bust it out to see if it worked. I can take a ruler and measure the size of the head of the screw and then possibly get a different type of head for it depending on stock.

I'm an IT guy so I have a couple of different screwdriver sets with TONS of different size heads. One of them has about 80 bits at least....got it at harbor freight......only for smaller electrical items, the biggest phillips is a 0 I believe.

I'll check out the local hardware store sometime and when I do update the thread, but if anybody knows what the actual name of the 'female' part of the screws....like a post or something? Not sure on the technical term.

The female part is a Chicago screw post. But as long as the above set up has 1-1/2" spacing it should work on the sheath. I have never used or sen this Blade Tech product. Mike

i think your hardware store will likely call the female part a "well nut" if not a chicago screw post. the longer screws are 3/4in length and the shorter ones are 1/2in, both are 8/32 thread pitch like has been mentioned. just use whichever ones fit according to what you are mounting the clip to. just an FYI in case you have future screws you are unsure about, all home depots and lowe's have panels in their hardware isle with many different male and female screw patterns so you can figure out exactly what you have or what you are missing.

i believe those two plastic pieces are inserts to make your 1.75" BTK fit on 1.5" or 1" belts respectively. i have not found a use for them because the clip works fine without them in my opinion.

I posted in you other thread about the Klip. Same applies here. The spacers are for allowing the Klip to work with different belt widths and have little to no wiggle. The smallest screw is to attach the spacer to the Klip (lowest hole on the BACK of the Klip). The different lengths of the screws are to accommodate different thicknesses of sheaths.

I could be totally wrong here, but that is how I've come across it with my Klip.

BTW, I think the size of the screws is #10/24.

Sweet thanks for the help guys. I'll make sure to bring some stuff along.

cross-referenced with the MolleBack I'm going to pick up bunch of screws to hold on to because I, too, am a hoarder.
