Proper use of threads in classifieds section

Hi all,

I paid for a membership to sell off some knives, and I'm a little confused about the approved use of threads in that section

I was told not to create 1-thread per knife, so I created This thread and I have continued to add knives to it, and updating the subject with the knives still available.

However last night at 9:27pm I added a new knife (the Spyderco Domino) and although the post appeared, the thread was never bumped in the "Folding Knives" forum. It appears nowhere on the first page of that forum. Thus no one saw my newly added knife.

So my questions are:

1. Why did my thread not get bumped?
2. Should I have created a new thread for the new knife? I have two more knives to list and I have no idea where to put them.
3. The rules say no "TTT" is allowed because of abuse. Does this mean once a listing scrolls off the first page it's dead forever? If a week goes by, I can't bump it? Am I suppsed to create a new thread for the same knife again? (which seems like a big waste)? Or I'm not allowed to sell that knife unless someone goes fishing through the archives and finds it?

Thanks!

Threads don't get bumped in the for sale section . Everything you need to know is right here . https://www.bladeforums.com/help/exchange-rules/

Bump does not work in the Exchange. After 2 weeks, create a new thread.

Everyone here already is right, but just to add a bit, the selling sections are sorted by initial thread creation date, not last post date. That's why you don't see it bump up when you post another.

If you want to see bumps, go to the filter and have it sort by last post, but keep in mind that isn't the default for others.

This change was made a few years back because folks kept bumping threads when they shouldn't. The change was made, and the rule was removed. I'm not sure why you think there is a rule against "TTT" type posts, but there hasn't been for years now (as others said, it might be worth reading through the rules again). You can absolutely post in your own thread as often as you want now (but again, for people looking in the section with the default sort, it doesn't matter).

As the rules show, you can make more than one selling thread for different knives, but they need to be at least a day apart (the same knife you have to wait two weeks to relist). Outside of that, it is up to you whether to put it in an existing thread or make a new one.

Thanks everyone.

I understand the desire not to have continual thread bumping, and having to create a new thread for items that don't sell is a shame. The thread model is perfect for this, but we're not allowed to use it. Instead we force people to jump through hoops and create a new thread and upload the pictures again? Seems odd.

The rules explicitly say 'Bumping threads or "BTTT" in the sales sections has been disabled due to abuse. See #9 above for clarification.'

Could always just copy and paste from the old thread .

It may seem odd to you but it keeps the Exchange fair for everyone. The bumping elimination has been in place long before you joined.

Ah my bad. I see how that is confusing. It refers to the change to not sorting by last post, effectively disabling bumping. Probably could be reworded a bit for clarity.

There is a simple solution, OP: sell your knives in one shot. You must have known by Sun what knives you will sell this week.

At least that's what I do .... take all the pictures, etc., and then post.

Roland.
