I was reading through some of the FAQs on the HI webpage tonight, and read a couple of past accounts of customers sending gifts or throwing a party for the kamis. Here are a couple of links, though I'm sure most of you have seen these before:

It really moved me how much the kamis appreciated the small gifts sent by HI fans. I think it would be so great if we could get together and each throw in a few bucks to throw a party for all the guys at the new shop. A little bit can really go a long way for them. I'm sure they have been through a lot of stress lately with the move and would really appreciate it. Obviously we would have to co-ordinate this somehow... it might be best for us to just send our donations directly to Auntie.

Everyone's input and ideas are welcome and appreciated!

I have been begging auntie to let me help throw a party for them, there is a holy festival coming up , so if we want to do something soon would be the time !

I just got off the phone with Auntie Yangdu.
I alerted her to this thread.

Because of the struggle with moving the Shop, the struggles associated with the nature of this business and with Dashein fast approaching....
She will gladly and gratefully accept any donations you wish to give the Shops and Kami's. Your donation will help her greatly with the bonuses and such that she will need to give the kami's so that they can be with their families for the festival season, among other things.
She is very appreciative and thankful for your kindness and generousity.

Please send any donations you wish to give to her paypal at himimp@aol.com
Please do not use the gift option. Paypal deserves their cut for providing us with this fast and easy to use service.

She also told me a couple things I was not aware of...
The Mohawk hats you all love are made by a group of handicapped children there in Nepal. They make these goods to support themselves.
All proceeds generated by Aunties sales for these items goes directly to them. HI does not make anything off them. Our benefit is the good karma that we have in common with you all. The same goes for any handicraft the kami's wives/relatives make for us. It goes to the kami's and their extended families to help support them.

Thank you Karda for the response.

It's nice to hear that about the hats. Makes me want one even more!

Alright guys and gals, let's do this! Like Karda said, send your donations directly to Auntie's paypal. I just sent mine.

Let's show the Kamis and their families how much they mean to us.

I will also make a donation, hopefully in time for the festival , if not then in time to help party worn kami ! definitely in

Kamis, HI and Pala would like to thank you all for your donations and supports

one of the very few places I have ever done business where I feel good about every single part of the product and its arrival to me. HI is more , much much more than just a company, it is a human interest, a holder of traditions and a provider of a totally unique service.
