I want to make a kitchen knife out of my Skinny ASH. Here is what I plan to do. Thoughts?

Looks like a SAR6! :D

I like it. You gonna do the grinding and mods?

Looking good! Me thinks it looks like a larger SAR5. I have plans for the SAR5 being modded for a kitchen knife for the wife.

was thinking a great slicer on the skinny ash..perfect for kitchen.

great idea

Not sure yet. Looks straight forward but it is a 300 dollar knife. Not sure I want to learn to use a belt grinder on this one. I may look for someone else to do the heavy lifting. I can do the refinishing and sharpening and sand the handles to fit.

Yeah, practicing with a $300 on a belt grinder may not be the best course of action :D

sounds like a great idea.......hmmmm, I wonder what a Fusion Battle mistress would look like with that treatment from Ban (skinnied up as well too)

Why not???? I do it all the time. Especially with Hogwash's expensive stuff :p

JK!

I think you're nuts, but that's just my opinion. :D Get a SAR5 from someone and strip it and refinish it. Or wait for the SAR4 and pay retail and strip it.

I've got to watch him like a hawk.

Ban always wants to put serrations, funky swedges, recurves, bottle openers, harpoon tips and tapered tangs on anything I give him to grind.

When I ask him for just a plain satin job and sharpened edge, he looks at me like I'm some sort of alien. Luckily I can convince him to do only what I ask for most of the time.

Well Jim..... it's just my opinion... but.. I would say no...

If I was going to make a kitchen knife out of an ASH...I would want to move the handle forward and steepen the angle at the ricasso....

The SAR would be a much better contender... but... I still don't think it would beat your Santoku.... :)

Yeah but I want Kitchen Infi. :D But i was thinking about moving the handle forward some. Its just with the ASH I think it can be modded to make room for your fingers on cutting board...

I NEED KITCHEN INFI or I WILL DIE. I am almost sure.
