I bought a Wave way back when. This was the original model and resided in my glove box pretty much unused for a decade. I went to get it a couple weeks back and almost cut myself with the one hand blade. Really poor design I realized. Also, couldn't get half the tools out of the handle.

Went online and found that Leatherman had redesigned the Wave, in part because of the narrow blade which had the pad of your thumb pretty much on the edge of the blade when opening.

Anyway, I called Leatherman and they said to send it back and they'd send me the new one which they did. It's a better design and even though it came in a canvas Chicomm sheath, it fit the old leather sheath just fine.

And the tools are still made in the US regardless of some internet chatter I read during my googling.

Interesting -- what did you say to Leatherman when you called? Did you ask for an exchange, or did they just offer while you explained your concerns with the original Wave?

Pretty much what I posted. I was concerned with how safe the OHO feature was and that the tools in the handle were too stiff. They said they'd send me an updated one which is what they did. I should add that it was what was said to be a refurbished unit and it came with the paperwork and nylon sheath but no box. Looked pretty new to me.

I recently sent in a Juice S2 with a busted large screwdriver. I got a refurbed S2 back that looks brand new and the inner tools are easier to use than those on my old one. Very fast turnaround too. Just be sure to use the return form and it's all good.
