Prorating membership upgrade

Can you get money back from an upgrade or get the membership extended? Is just one or the other? What’s the process?
 
You get your membership prorated to extend your new higher membership. Spark Spark
 
Hi, haven’t heard any response to this, so I figured I’d post on it again. Checked my account status also doesn’t look like anything was done though I’m not sure. Thanks.
