I'm thinking about adding another CRK to my stable. Besides hollow handle, blade steel and cost. Are there any real disadvantages or advantages to either? Basically, I'm looking for a supplement to my sebbie in camping/hiking role. Fire/shelter building and food prep are my main requirements. All input is appreciated.
TIA

Moe,
I am no expert but have owned both a Green Beret and an Aviator & my preference is the Green Beret. I don't think Chris is going to use a poor performing steel and heat treat is really of more importance than the small diffs in steel chemistry between the two. The handle design on the Beret is MUCH more resistance to your hand riding past the guard to the blade and offers better control against the blade twisting in your grip. The blade is a very versitile grind and feels light in the hand.
I ended up selling mine as I had too many knives that overlapped but I would not bat an eye to grab one for long term hard use.

Good luck,
Bill

Well, it looks like I'm going for the shadow IV...I decided to get the single guard version and will just have to wait. The GB is a fine knife (I own the full size) and but I wanted a full cutting edge. Serrations on a small knife don't do much for me, unless they were maybe on the top portion of the blade point. Either of them have good blade steels and the blade profiles were very similar. I really like the handle on the GB, but made a compromise and went for the one-piece.

Thanks for looking
