Does anyone own a SOG FIELD PUP? I was looking at it in the store today. It would be used camping and hiking... I would much appreciate any PROS and CONS about this knife.
Or...would a SOG SEAL PUP be better suited for a general purpose outdoor knife??
Thanks:thumbup:

The Field Pup has a 4" long blade of AUS-8 which is thin and sharp. Slices great and is light enough to be carried all day. Handle is rather comfortable also. I rather like the knife. The only con I know of is the thumb ramp is a little sharper then I'd like. Had one years ago, gave or sold it to a friend with a custom sheath. It's one knife I miss and plan to by again. :)

When camping, I use a knife of that size for cutting open packages, cutting rope, food prep, cutting small branches and so on. It's not for prying or chopping. It's a slicer and does a great job at it. After I buy another one, I'm going to make a Cross draw sheath for it. When camping I also prefer a 3.5" to 5" fixed bladed knife on my belt. IMO it fits all of my Criteria really well. If you need something a little thicker, the Seal pup is a good way to go. I hear it's also a good slicer though not quite as good as the Field Pup. How's about you get both and tell use which you like better? ;)
