Pros & Cons of Piggyback Sheath

Debating on whether or not I want to buy a piggyback sheath for my BK7 and BK14, obviously a large upside is that the two knives compliment each other well and convenience of having the two together at all times. However, since I have never owned/or even purchased a custom sheath are there any cons to a piggyback, or should I just go with the normal sheath w/ pouch?

Thanks again for answering my noobish questions!

personally I don't carry any large blades (over 6 inches) on my belt, I find them to cumbersome. They usually go in or on a pack. However a blade the size of the 14,16, 10 and BK2 are easily carried on the belt or pocket for the smaller blades. I do how ever piggyback the BK13 with my 9 and 4 in the factory sheath.

Some of the piggyback sheaths that are around sure look like a convenient way to carry both blades, but would have to be MOLLE strapped to my pack because they would be heavy.

How is the factory sheath on the 14, and what handles do you have on your 14?

For me it depends a LOT. I don't usually piggy-back cause... I dunno I just don't. I wouldn't mind it. There are actually some times I would like to I just never did. When I get a new sheath for my 9 I will probably piggy back it. I don't like piggy-backing knives one directly on top of the other, I like putting them together on a cant. Like if the 9 is vertical the 14/11/24/16/17/We would be mounted 15°-22.5° off vertical. The other thing I would want is a strap around my leg so I can know exactly where the sheath is/will be versus flopping around.

My bk2 is my outdoors work horse. Keep it on my pack. My bk14 is ALWAYS in my pocket. I carry it with a leatherman juice in a KSF pocket sheath.

I'm leaning toward a piggyback sheath for a current project - but it will be more for keeping the knives together for quick retrieval from a box, pack or bag than for carrying on my person. Unless, of course, it ends up low-profile and lightweight enough for that to become an option.

Not to hijack the thread - but hopefully increase its usefulness:
Can I request pics of a setup you're happy with? (And the maker???)

I decided against a piggyback system due to weight and if I lose it I am screwed. If I keep them seperated the odds of Mr. Murphy, to me, are reduced.
