Protech Malibu pivot

Does anyone know if you can remove the female side of the pivot on a Protech Malibu? If so how’s the best way of going about it?

Does anyone know if you can remove the female side of the pivot on a Protech Malibu? If so how’s the best way of going about it?

I know it's been a little over a year since you asked, but I came across your post the other day since I was looking to find it out too.

I spoke with the guys at Way of Knife EDC since they've done a ton of mods to Malibus over the years and asked them how they remove the pivots. They were super helpful, as always, and told me it takes an arbor press to press it out and to press it back into place. So, I purchased a 1/2 ton press today and tried it. I'm happy to report it was a resounding success!

Protech puts a row of knurling at the base of the pivot that's slightly larger in diameter than the pivot hole in the scale, so it bites into the scale REALLY well. It's scary as hell to press out and the arbor press is really the only tool I can think of to get it out since it keeps the pivot from canting off to one side or another while it's removed.
