Hi guys,

Never had a malibu. Was thinking of getting a topo version.

Anyone have one or handled one? How are they?

Hi Folks.
I have really been bored while waiting on my new knife.
And im using some of the time to look at other shiny things.
I stumbled across Protech Malibu. And damn it just tick all the right boxes for me.
All videos i have seen just praises the knife to the max.

Is the knife that good?

Its not in stock in the EU shops im using. So right now its just on my wishlist.

I bought a Malibu last year because everyone on the internet always raved about it. I like it. At 7.5" OAL I don't like to go much smaller, and tend to prefer knives around 8" - 1.25". Paid $260 for it new with the textured handle. Since then, I've acquired a Protech Mordax on the secondary market. Paid $135, almost half the cost of a Malibu. Sized at 8.12" and respectively a little heavier. OMG this hits my sweet spot way more than the Malibu, with all the same action! I also have a Protech TR-3 Manual (Integrity) that hits just as hard as the autos, only with a thumbstud opener...
 
Malibu is a fantastic knife. One of my favorite carries due to the weight and the length of blade to handle ratio. However they are not the best slicers due to wide edge geometry. Button lock that Protech does is among the best.

The topo version looks quit expensive. Not sure I’d go with that version unless your heart is really set on it.

I just got the Cambria 2 and feel it’s more comfortable for me vs the Malibu if I could choose to only buy one.

I have a topo Protech Rockeye that is beautiful! My two Malibus have great action and carry very well. I have a dragon scale handle and the REK exclusive camo.
