Protech malibu

that is what i thought. Finding one is so damn difficult. The smooth one is in stock so i was gonna grab it but again i would like the textured version plus bright blue isn’t quite my style

I have both now but definitely prefer the textured version. They also made a smooth spot under the clip so it doesn't eat pockets which is a nice feature that most makers skip.

I saw that one also, they are incredibly hard to find in any configuration.

I'd decide more on blade profile, I far prefer the Wharncliffe to the reverse tanto, I have a smooth scale version and it's fine. The anodizing Protech does gives traction on the aluminum enough for me, and the textured version visually does nothing for me. Protech used to do a feather or fish scale pattern, now that would have been amazing on the Malibu.

I just got one yesterday. A smooth blue anodized one. I've never handled a textured one but I'm almost sure that I'd prefer the smooth. I used to always look for knives with texture and jimping, but then I realized that I've never had a knife slip in my hand, yet I have blown the hell out of A LOT of jean pockets. That's sweet that Protech put a smooth section under the clip so that it'll slide in and out the pocket easy, however even folders with not too much texture still blow my pockets out after a while. The anodizing on the smooth one's have that chalky feel to them and the design fits in my hand very well so I don't feel like any texturing is needed.

Yes, the anodizing does have a chalky feel that I like a lot. I think for me it’s the texture kinda gives the scales a G10 look that for some reason does not look as good to my eye as the smooth.

It might also be that I have had the smooth on a Mordax that has been awesome.
