ProTech SBR missing serial number

Hey, guys...

Although I am a new member, I have been receiving infinite wisdom from all of you for the past couple of years! Now, I have a question of my own:

This week I bought a ProTech SBR auto (smooth black handle and acidwash blade) from a reputable online dealer and noticed there was no serial/production run number in the finger groove like I have seen on every SBR in every photo and video posted online.

I reached out to ProTech but still haven't heard back so I am curious if this is normal/legit? Has anyone else received knives without the usual numbering, etc?

I believe only the first production and later limited-run versions have serial numbers, and standard models after the initial run are un-numbered

Somebody from Protech should get back to you as they have excellent customer service. My SBR # starts with PR2 (production run two), and I have other models that are all serialized regardless of which production run, but Protech might be switching it up on these new batches.

In case anyone is interested...

I finally spoke to ProTech and they said the knife is legit and that they recently moved the serial number onto the actual blade just above the pivot point (invisible without disassembling the knife, I think).
