While cleaning my muzzleloader I was lubing the bore with T/C Natural Lube Bore Butter and it came to me. Since I use my CS Trail Master while camping as well as my Master Hunter on food I wanted a lube that would not only protect but be non-toxic if used on food. The Bore Butter label states that the ingredients are all food grade and non-toxic. I would imagine that this stuff will not go bad (Like olive oil) as it is used to protect muzzleloading bores during storage. When I finished cleaning my ML I broke out my 2 CS carbon V knives and gave them a good rubdown with Flitz metal polish, buffed and lubed them with Bore Butter. We'll see what happens but it made sense to me. Any and all comments appreciated. :)

I'm not familiar with this Bore Butter product, but my guess is it'll work fine for storage in common conditions for even as much as a year or two. But, does it leave the blade "greasy" or sticky? Will it attract dirt?

thenagain when i think of btter i also think of soft bread....which is good

When the product is applied it is in fact greasy. It does dry after a while however as seen in the muzzleloader, but I don't know how long it takes yet. My knife is still greasy but it's only been 1 1/2 hours.
