Protecting a stripped ESEE-6

I got my new ESEE-6 last week and love it. Since I have to modify everything I own (a compulsion), I stripped the coating and tried dyeing the handles to an olive drab color, but I got a little heavy handed with the RIT and ended up with something closer to black. Then I did a vinegar patina on the stripped blade and tang. Came out really nice.

Anyhow, now I am trying to come up with the best solution to protecting the stripped tang under the handle. I was thinking carnauba wax or Boeshield. What if anything have you folks used for ESEEs or any other knives to protect areas that are typically not tended to but might be prone to rust?

I'd mask the portions I wanted visible and shoot some Norrells Molyresin on the rest. Then forget about it for the next couple centuries.

Alternatively, a bit of Krylon could work too.

Regular use will serve to keep the tang free of rust, particularly with the patina. If it doesn't see regular use, a bit of mineral oil, CLP, or some other such substance works fine for me.

The last carbon blade I stripped under the scales was a Benchmade Nimravus Cub in M2. I epoxied the scales to the tang. That was several years ago. Haven't seen any problem. But epoxy is a permanent solution.
