Does anyone have any idea on the amount of prototype's made for any one model? I noticed some proto's were made and then it seems like that was it no more of that blade style. Were they just a special run or design?

Thanks Dingy, I'll be here, I'm sure when these Hog's wake up and head to the trough they'll give me some answers. :)

Whuch one? The proto Hunter...or the Marco Bolo?
As for numbers... Only the Boss HOG really knows on most models. :)

For the FBM, there seemed to be quite a few, but for the original Mean Street models, maybe only a couple proto variations. The BOSS Street seems to have quite a few also, as well as the Marco Bolo. I'm guessing that the numbers change from model to model.

what a pity .

Jaxx thanks for replying, I'm looking at the FSH its the Bowie blade design.

HOG FSH proto of bowie blade , is not cheap , about $800-1000.
it is my favorite !

Was the aftershock bolo a proto? It's a beauty, whatever it was...

I don't believe so. There is an LE version. Funny thing on the ABLE is that only #1, #2, & #3 have the oval style Busse logo on them. I don't know of any other model produced where the logo style changed during the original run like this.

Aha - don't think I've ever seen the LE version, just the CG's. Not many of them pop up for sale, and its never at a time when I have any cash.

Looks like the Bolo would make a heck of a chopper Jaxx. I realize I did'nt list the HOGFSH specifically. But what can you tell me about the HOGFSH Prototype Bowie Grind blade design. Were they made for a special event? Did they make many? What handle colors and materials were used? Thanks guys, :)

I would consider there to be at least 2 types of proto's.
1) Early proto's that were made and used to test the design, the handle or blade shape and some of these were testing/destruction proto's (destroyed to test thickness, grind etc) There were fewer of these that escaped the shop, but there are some, ie early mean street proto's. Some of these may only be none to be proto's by Jerry.

2) Later proto's to test the market for the design. ie how well it would sell, if it were worth doing a full run. These are a little more available.

Honestly, I don't know how accurate this info is as it is just what I have picked up from reading and watching the sales etc.

Just my opinion, but I am an expert on my opinion ;)

Several different combos were offered in a few Ganza events, usually with a FBM proto in matching combos. I believe that all had G-10 handles...Satin with olive/black, blue/black/,"pumpkin", black/tan (?) red/black (?)... I may have missed one or guessed wrong on another. Again, only Jerry & Garth know the answer to how many. :)

Yes it seems to be that Jerry ie, the janitor is really the only one that truly knows. Thanks Issac, and Jaxx for the imformation supplied I appreciate it.

I actually doubt Jerry knows either. I dont see him keeping a log of knives...maybe his cigars, bourboun, and JWB:D
