I always hesitate to post here as I don't really feel my work is up the skill level of my fellow makers, that and I'm worried Steven Garsson will stop by and tell me my liners are too thick.
Anyway, so I present my prototype design friction folder. If you can think of a name for it, feel free to suggest. Design influence by JL Rodebaugh MS and David Lespect. 3.125" blade length of 1095 steel and stag with ss liners. Full flat grind with rounded spine. 7.5" oal.
Still learning to work with stag so it's not a slim folder but the stag is nicely rounded so it has a good feel In the hand.
I was going to add rounded pins to hold the stag to the liners but decided to leave it "naked" for now. I cut the stag from a roll which is also new to me. The stag roll I'm pretty certain came to me from the generosity of Idaho maker Mark Roe.
Comments and criticism welcome so I can continue to improve
I will forge and use laminated Hitachi steel with ss cladding for the future. I will also upgrade the pivot to a larger diameter. I also have something interesting to add in the way of a ball plunger and detent but that's for the near future after some adjustments to the profile.
