Rather than watch class tonight, I decided to get out in the yard and take some pics of my new Fiddleback Hunter. In honor of Talfuchre who made the sheath, I decided to make a split stick deadfall based on a tutorial he put up on youtube. I put up a lengthy review of this process over on the W&SS forum (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6743669#post6743669), so I figured I'd house most of the glamour shots here. Enjoy!

Hate is not even the right word. Its okay though, I have my Brian Andrews whitetail skinner to console me.;)

I hate you and your stupid sexy hunter. And sheath.

Hahaha...you guys are hilarious.

would you change the blade height at all?

Not one bit. I really liked how the knife performed when used for tasks for which it wasn't necessarily designed. The only time the height was even apparent was when I was notching the trigger stick, but even then it wasn't a big deal. Andy's Bushcrafter would probably be better suited, for well, bushcraft:D As an all purpose knife though, I like the extra blade height if for nothing more than piece of mind while batoning through tough wood.

The Bow Legged Joe is the only other Fiddleback I've handled, but I can see why Andy thinks this might be his best blade so far. It is a work horse and as the pictures show, dead sexy. I forgot to take any pics of the tapered tang, but the knife is lighter than you'd expect and balances right at the index finger. I imagine that I'll enjoy this blade for many years to come.

This is a really nice looking knife.
What kind of wood is that?

It's been mere days since I placed my first order here, and I am already thinking about another.....

Thats Wenge over Hard Maple.

Wenge over curly Maple. To be honest, the photos really don't do the Wenge justice. It is absolutely gorgeous!

Being on thhis forum is like going to wood school.

Wenge? New one on me. I have seen the maple as the bottom wood on a couple of Andy's knives now, and it always looks great. Makes a fine back for a darker wood.
