Here are some pics of a prototype Molekine notebook cover I made recently. As usual my pics are not professional quality but they get the job done.

I made this out of 6oz Wickett and Craig Saddle Skirting oiled and suntanned for that "Saddle Tan" color. I hand stitched and finished everything. It is made to fit the large Moleskine notebook and the small Army green hardback "memo" book.

Since this is a prototype I have been carrying it everyday and getting a lot of use out of it. I have taken it out to the range as well as everywhere else I have been this week.

Any comments or suggestions for improvement on future covers is welcome.

Thanks for looking and best regards,

Nick

That's pretty cool. My penchant for pocket-sized notebooks rivals my penchant for sharp things. I love the Moleskines, but they are a bit too big for my pants pocket. I've been using ones by Miquelrius that are softbound and about 3"X5". The covers are flimsy though, and a leather cover for them would be awesome.

I took a look at these on a web site. If I had one I could make a cover for it quite easily. I amy have to look for one of these locally.

Moleskine makes ones now that are 1/3 the thickness of the small notebook, and come in 3-packs for about 7 bucks. The covers aren't super flimsy, but they're some kind of card stock instead of whatever the usual moeskine covers are.

Digging the leather cover, looks production!

I've used those slim Moleskine cahiers with the cardboard covers. They work well, but are unattractive. Now if I had a nice leather cover for those, I might start using them again because the Moleskine paper is better than the Miquelrius for fountain pen use. The little Miquelrius is better for pants pockets though. Arrgh, between picking an edc notebook and an edc knife, my edc is making me ocd!

Nick, are you plannning on making these covers available for sale? consider me near the front of the line.

That looks great. My only comment, it would even more cool with some sort of snap or strap to hold it closed.

Yes I am.

I an going to need to get some more notebooks though. I am also looking at some exotic skins as well, sharkskin for sure, maybe some others.

Might I suggest you consider moving the pen holder to the opposite flap? On the right side, like you have it, it gets in the way (at least for me) when writing. I'm a righty, as most are.

Or maybe pen storage in a slot or sleeve on the spine? I'm not a leather worker, so I have no idea if that's practical or easy to do.

I thought about this last night and came up with a perfect solution.....flip it over. :D

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I will post some pics of my latest cover hopefully today. The problem is I have come up with some other ideas so now I have to hurry up and start on another one. :)
