Hi folks -
I had Mr. K make me a copy of Protourist's Cutlas in it's smaller form, which I hijacked and called the Galley Wag.
These are loosely based on a Randall with graceful curves and what I see as just a beautiful knife.
The two examples that currently exist are both 1/16" thick 01 steel, thinner being better for slicing in my experience.
I have only used my new Galley Wag to cut a biscuit this morning - but I am sure it will be a well used knife in my kitchen, alongside my Cutlass and Modified Wharncliffe -
Here are some pictures of this beauty - this is the best snakewood I have seen - it is really gorgeous!
The blade is beautifully rounded at the spine, and Mack's design calls for serrations on the spine. Well executed!
I have not taken measurements - but here is an in-hand shot -
Closeup of the snakewood figuring - very nice!
Finally, here is a picture of the 'Wag with it's big brother, the most excellent Protourist Cutlass!
I know there is another Galley Wag on order - I think this design will prove to be not only one of the most aesthetically pleasing, but also one of the most useful knives that John makes!
