Had the Galley Wag out for the holiday weekend - it helped me cut up some slabs for candied baby backs - did an outstanding job as usual.

I am almost out of my Cape Perpetua Smoked Pepper - I hope Mrs. Protourist is still making this delicious seasoning -

I paired the pepper with the Cape Foulweather smoked salt, an excellent paring!

The ribs came out excellent - with my hot pepper jelly glaze and homemade honey mustard sauce. Yum!

Yes - it has been used - it is in my kitchen block next to the Cutlass - both in Snakewood -

The pictures don't do the wood justice - I did some beauty shots back when it was new -

Mine is tucked away where I can't get to it right now and I really wanted to use it this weekend.
Sadly, no SWMBO isn't doing the seasonings anymore. Too much time for far too little profit.
The seasonings stuff that she has, supplies and herbs etc. are what's blocking me from getting to my knife though.:(

John makes any wood look great - I was on a Snake-wood kick for a while, and still love it, but it does shrink more than most other materials.

Not a problem as beauty like this with a little maintenance is well worth it (read that regular mineral oil treatments).....

I'll post a couple of Cutlass pictures too, since it resides in the block next to it's little bro -

Old school shot - before we remodeled the kitchen (Mr. K and some of the regulars from back then saw the old kitchen), and the Cutlass dissecting, wouldn't you guess, a filet roll in the mqqn kitchen -

Some good eatin' right here.

Mack - too bad about the smoked seasonings business - I should have ordered more....

I want to add a couple of links for the new folks -

This was where Mack sent his Galley Wag out for a passaround - a cool thread imo -

My original post when I received my G-dub -

John's original Galley Wag post

And this is where John and I were punking Mack; I was acting like the GW was my design, even though Mack had been posting about a knife similar to this....based on his cutlass. Notice the classy tack of that truck driver.....it was a lot of fun.

this makes me sad.
they were tasty.

Reading the old posts and seeing the dates made me realize something, Hanna was diagnosed right when Mack received the knife. It's been 5 years now.

Wow - time flies, John.

Your family really went through the ringer on that one with Hanna - but it's great to see her doing so well now.

She seems to be doing very well, but in October she has to have a bunch of tests done to see if the chemo affected anything else.
