So I sharpened up my PM2 today and was showing it to the old man, keep in mine my dad has always had the $20 Gerber knives from Walmart so he has never handled a nicer knife, well I let him mess around with it while watching tv and he really likes it, so I told him I'd get him one for Christmas, he wants the blacked out version, only problem is going to be finding one haha, but pops looks to finally be stepping up his knife game, proud of him

That's a BIG jump in quality and class!!! Props on you for giving such a great gift.

Paramilitaries in general just fly off the shelves, it has been hard lately to find any, and being as the blacked out version is a little more sought after, it tend to be out of stock more often than the plain satin version

Oh I had no idea. I didn't know the craze was still going on. I've gotten most of mine in trades so I had no idea how hard it was to find one from a dealer. That does say a lot about the PM2 tho for them to be so hard to find still after so long!

Nice. I've been on the waiting list at KW and at the Factory Outlet in Golden for a Black on Black PM2 for over a month now. Good luck snagging one!

Yea it's crazy they have really spiked in want, cant find them anywhere good thing I have a good bit of time till Christmas

That's funny because it was my Father that got me started many moons ago! My first Delica back in '96, still have that knife albeit the blade is much shorter now but the clip is still attached ;).....

Its easy to step up your game if someone else is buying....but it is a step

Check out "bento box shop", you may spend a little more, but they definately have them in stock at the moment.

Funny you should say that...I bought my dad his first Spyderco a couple years ago (ZDP-189 Delica). He's always had Gerbers and Kershaws and I know he definitely didn't want to spend more than $40 on a knife, but when I bought him that he never carried any of his 6 or 7 Kershaws and Gerbers again. I've more recently bought him a SuperBlue Delica and he hasn't carried the ZDP Delica much since then...I think he likes the easy sharpening of SuperBlue and the handle colour more than the ZDP. I almost never see him without it lol.

There's always a bunch of blacked out PM2's on ebay...

I would be super careful buying on eBay. The PM2 is super hot right now which makes it a prime candidate for counterfeiting.

If you want get him something special you could get the ELMAX exclusive at BBS. Also, KnivesShipFree has some Brown S35VN sprints in stock ATM.

My dad would be the same way. He still carries the little double-bladed Case slipjoint that I remember him having when I was a kid. He's a "knife guy" in the sense that he sees the use and importance of carrying one. But he's not going to get particular about steels, handle materials, or locking mechanisms or owning multiple knives. I'll see him in a couple of weeks and have my PM2 with me. I'll be interested to see what he says. He'll likely think its too big, but I'm hoping if I can get it in his hands to try out that he'll experience the difference.
