i`m now the proud owner of my fiurst busse ; a heavyheart with standard scales . man this is one heavy duty looking knife . i was wondering if this could chop through a 2.5" thick dead tree branch? if so , what damage would it have? is this infi steel? i plan to use it , didnt buy it just to look at . its going to keep my ass safe when i run around in the australian bush

Grats!

Should easily chop through that branch or thicker even without damage. Yes, it's INFI. And yes, it will keep your ass safe.

:D

Congrats on your first Busse! Yes you've to beat the sh*t out of it:thumbup:
I don't have a HH but have other Busse's and they have no damage after chopping. Mostly there still shaving sharp after chopping some wood:eek:
Yes it's indeed INFI steel.

But we need some pics when you starting to abuse her:thumbup: :D

Congrats, go for it, don't be afraid to damage the knife
With my FSH I beat as hard as i can very dry and hard wood without any damage to the knife.

yep definitely need to get a camera . i want to chop that tree branch but wasnt sure if it would munt the edge. thanks to Perksy i have an awesome sheath for it too

here is friendofbill`s (great guy to deal with by the way , thanks mate!) photo of it , as i received the knife from him

Congrats! It'll be a great bush blade for ya! You won't be able to hurt it. The only Busse I've ever heard of breaking was a Skeleton key where the guy hammered it in to a cinder block and then started kicking it sideways bending the blade til it broke trying to get it out. You won't have any problems.

Congrats with your first Busse

Enjoy your HHFSH it is really a great knife. I use(d) mine real hard and absolutely no damage to the knife. The coating is also very tough!

Of all the FSH's I think the HHFSH is the best user:thumbup:

Congrats on your first slab of INFI! I've chopped/batoned through branches much thicker than that with smaller Busses. Only problem afterwards was dealing with damn pine sap...LOL Now go have fun beating the snot out of it! Just make sure to find a camera to use so you can post pics for us to see :D

This one time, I had to use mine to escape from a WW II Submarine I was being held captive on.. And this one time I had to carve my way 6574 ft out of a tunnel that had collapsed.. And once, just once.. I used it to spank a prostitute in Vegas..

It still looks brand new.

J/K.. These really are the greatest blades, and in my opinion the HHFSH is one of the best "all around" blades Jerry made. You are going to be fine chopping with it, and throwing it, and ENJOYING it!!

Here's MINE!! HHFSH with Mag handles..

Ohh man! You can throw everything you can get your hand on at INFI steel and it will laugh at you. (Or maybe throw INFI at anything... )
Anyway. I posted some pics here of my FBMLE chopping a decent sized tree. It was STILL shaving sharp after all that cutting!!

I think INFI is what the Indestructable black box on airplanes is made of...
... Yeah, thats it! :p

Congrats on the new blade by the way!! Definitey get a camera and show us a Heavy Heart getting properly used in the Outback!

Glad to hear you are in the Busse club now mate. THERE IS NO TURNING BACK NOW..:D :D

No worries about the sheath mate, at least you got something to carry it around in, so use it hard.

And yes we do need pics:p

Perth! I had an old AUS AF friend in Perth...

You'll love that HH FSH. I'm waiting to lay my own hands on one!

A fantastic bush knife. A real classic.

Pics!!!!!

Any use of any knife will have a effect on the egde. In this case a VERY VERY VERY small effect. Like all knives if you use this one it will dull over time, the edge may get small rolls or flat spots. Busse knives are GREAT, perhaps the best. But they are not magic and are subject to the laws of nature.

I suggest steeling your edge straight after each good use and a quick strop.
This will hold that edge for some time.

When it is time to sharpen I suggest using sandpaper and leather. There are lots of threads about this.

Bottom line is RELAX you have bought one hell of a good knife. Use it and see if it is set up like you like it and works well for YOUR uses. If it does not and you would like a more acute edge or some other modification come back and ask. You will get lots of help.
