Got my Endura "Wave" today. Very cool collaboration. It is very light weight, sharp and quick to open. The "wave" feature has been improved upon and it works much better than my actual Emersons.

Sal if you put this feature on any of your higher end knives, I know I'd buy some as would many others. Thanks for being open minded enough to try new/different ideas. A "waved" Manix/Military or Para would be a beautiful thing to behold. A stainless "waved" Endura would also be very nice.

Once again, Thanks for a great product...

Hi Scholar Warrior,

Thanx for the kind comments. Glad you like the piece. The original concept to make the larger wave came from a forumite that was modifying our current models, using the hole for the "hook". I felt it reduced sgtrength of the blade and re-designed.

Ernest (Emerson knives) has since agreed to additional pieces and we're planning to add the Endura and Delica wave models to the line next year.

Other models will depend on response.

Factory / factory cooperation is proving to be interesting in its products.

Congrats on your new knife scholar warrior! I'm very jealous because I appear to have mislaid my DIY waved delica :(

Sal, will the waved Delica and Endura be hollow ground like the SDF version, or will they be sabre ground like the current FRN models? I'm intrigued why hollow grind was chosen for this run.

Cheers, Dave.

Hi Daverave,

We'll probably go with a saber on the FRN version. If we make SS version, it will more than likely be hollow.

Hollow seems to be preferred by those that like the stainless models. The advantage of hollow, besides the nice sharp grind line is a thinner edge for shallow cuts, such as skinnng. The advantage of the saber is a tad more strength, especially at the tip.

Full flat grinds also have their advantages, but usually for the "afi" (aficianado) market, which is decidedly smaller. Most new-commers to knives as a hobby go for "looks". It's only after a certain amount of knowledge that "boring" grinds like full flat are attractive.

on the current Wave model, hollow offered a "look" at no disadvantage. VG-10 is an excellent performing steel and can handle all of the grinds well.

It's not possible for us to offer all of the variables possible in all of the designs so we try to provide our customers with as much variety as is possible and still maintain our core values in the product.

We use different steels, grinds, patterns, locks, materials, etc. For those that rely on our knives as tools, they can ususally find something that will work hard for them. For those that just like to appreciate the product or collect, there is enough variety in the above mentioned variables to keep it interesting.

That's one of the reasons we're always trying to get input from our customers on the forums and at shows.

The entire "business chain" from; raw materials, manufacturing, marketing, selling, distributing, shipping, warrantees, insurance, credit, etc. ALL EXISTS to service the ELU (End Line User). Remove the ELU from the equation and the entire business chain falls like a house of cards. We all work for you!

Sal, you COULD simplify the whole thing with a bench mounted, 3/4hp, NEW AND IMPROVED ....electric.....Sharpmaker. Include enough stones to make ANYTHING any grind the user wanted.
Oh sure, it might be expensive....but...hey, we're KNIFE NUTS!

(The plastic carrying case could be bulky though)

;) ;) :D
