I know this is a redirect, but I gotta do some braggin' on my boy!

We spent a week in NC with my parents at their new house and number one son had the itch to try knife making since grandpa is in the profession (GL Drew on these forums).

He hovered around the shop watching the process for a while and eventually picked up a scrap of steel and asked if he could "have it". The rest of the story is here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=493141

Ben spent most of the week in the shop with grandpa working on his knife, cutting out blanks for a show that weekend, helping to make scabbards, and generally playing shop boy. Both had a very memorable weekend working together and grandpa found a great way to be able to keep working in his shop even while company was visiting!:D

Congratulations to both of you!

HomeBru, that's great. Now you can have your own in-house supply of new knives. All you have to do is set him up with a shop, the equipment, steel, handle materials, sheath materials ... ahh, forget it! Cheaper to buy customs! :D

Yeah, the whole way home, Ben talked about how he wished I had a shop like grandpa's, but he eventually came to the conclusion that you couldn't afford things like that until you "got old"!

Congratulations to your family too! You have every right to be a proud papa too!

Can't wait until one of my grandson's can start making me customs, so I won't have to buy anymore.:D:D:D

Imagine it, the next Mike Tison or W.T. Fuller!:D

That'll save you some money! Congrats on the grandchild.

HomeBru.
No wonder you're proud, you've got a wonderful boy there. Very talented too.

Excellent job and great knife! Very clean and useful design. It's going to come in very handy when he goes hunting.
