About a month ago, I posted about how I slipped while I was carving, and sliced my thumb. 4 weeks later, the thumb is pretty much completely healed, except for a bit of scar tissue on the tip and the side. It doesn't keep me from being able to do most things, except that I can't really use it to open one handed folders anymore. Spydercos I can do with some difficulty, but if it has a thumb stud, forget about it.

As a result, I find myself carrying the "tactical" folders less and less these days, opting for a Schrade 8OT or Case Trapper instead. The fact they require two hands to open means I don't have to worry about hitting the scar tissue on my thumb anymore. It also means I tend to take my time getting a knife out, as I'm learning most things in life don't need to be cut "right now".

Chris. good to hear that you are healing. I found the same lesson, without cutting myself, but same idea. Slips have become the staple of my stable, so to speak. And I find myself using them more than I used my one handed openers.

Glad you're on the mend, Chris.

Puts me in mind of: measure twice, cut once

Chris, I'm glad that you will recover with no log term ill affects of the cut.

You made the statement that most things in life don't need to be cut right now. Thats one of the things I love about slip joints; the nature of the beast makkes one slow down for just a moment, and take stock of what you're doing. This is not a bad idea when dealing with sharp objects.

Lets be careful out there.

Or what wa it that old Wilfred said in Crossfire Trail?

"Slow down, you'll have a more harmonious outcome."

Carl.

Carl I watched Crossfire Trail about a month ago and was thinking the same thing. Chris I know your pain except my cut was with a Blur and I no longer do liner locks. And my finger still feels funny in the right spots.
