what do you guys think of this knife for EDC?

IS it chisel ground or V-ground, i have been finding conflicting info

btw the waved QCQ-7 is listed as v ground.

thanks

i sure wish the search function was back

I asked this on another forum, and got nothing but positive responses.

The PSARK is chisel ground, not V ground.

What I was told is that the PSARK makes for a great EDC because the hawkbill isn't wildly curved, so it is still easy to slice and such with, but you get the added power of the concave curve. Also, the point is still pointy enough for penetrating materials, though it maybe won't be as easy as say a CQC-7.

its 'V'ground in the way all EKI's are 'V' ground, ernies definition and mine differ somewhat. the SP EKI's are listed as 'V' grind, but are to me more of a chisel. they are not ground equally on both sides, if thats what ya thought, and niether are any of them, commander/spec-war/SOCFK/etc. not that this is BAD mind ya, just confusing 'till ya handle a couple of the SP versions, or commanders. EKI does not make a std equally ground on both sides 'v'grind blade, production/or custom, to my knowledge. they still cut like crazy, easy to sharpen (once ya get used to them) and are heavy duty mommas, but, to me,are not 'v' grinds.......at least conventional 'v' grinds.........hope this helps on that q'

as far as the P-SARK for edc, i am sure its great, i have a SOCFK, which has the same handle w/a tanto blade, works GREAT. i am sure the P-SARK is the same, have heard nothing but good about them, plan on getting one myself soon......all EKI's are excellent knives, imho, EKI and MicroTech rule the roost as far as production knives, imho, none of the others are even close(well, imhjo BM is not TOO far behind, but behind they are!!), if ya dont believe me, just compare/carry a few, and ya will see for yourself soon enough.

i have a black PSARK, carry&use it every day. cuts great, pierces like crazy, and o'course, the wave impresses the hell out of everyone around:cool: . if ya don't have one, then ya gotta get one. i think there's nothing else like it on the market (production-wise). but after handling a MT Kestral, imo, the PSARK is much easier to operate, and cost me less $ (75 from a forumite), so they CAN be had for a good price. just my 3 cents (used to be 2 cents, but with inflaaation...well)

I guess we have to call them symetrically ground.

I wish all EK's were ground like the commander.

I think that i am going to go with the Spear point SOCFK

cant go wrong w/a SOCFK, my fav in the EKI line, love my green G10/black tanto model, one of my all time favs, ya will like it

Greg, sounds like you might be confused about the v-grind issue like I was when I got my commander. The V-grind means the blade is angled toward the midline on both sides, starting midway from the spine to the edge. You can see this on both sides of the blade. If you hold the knife straight out in front of your fact to look down the edge, you will see the v shape. The actual cutting edge is chisel ground, and the back isn't sharpened at all. The only thing that is done to the unsharpened side is a bit of light polish to remove the burr. This is why you see a very thin line of shiny metal on the black blade. The true chisel ground blade is completely flat from the spine all the way to the edge. If I misunderstood your post regarding the V-grind, I apologize. But this may clear it up for some poor soul who doesn't know the difference from the primary grind and the secondary grind like I when I first got my mini commander.
