  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Pete, Joe,
Is there ANY word on when there will be some blades without the fingernail nick available?????????????

Other than color is there a functional difference in the Buckcotes?????
Dan

The gold Buckcote is the standard titanium nitride (TiN)you see on a lot of machine tools to make them last longer. A good treatment to reduce wear.

The black or grey coating is titaniun aluminum nitride (TiAlN). It is harder and has better wear resistance.

The champaigne colored coating is titanium zirconium nitride. (TiZN) It is even harder and has the best wear resistance of the three, although you probably couldn't tell the difference between the grey and the champaigne colored coatings. They are really close in their protection.

All of the Buckcote coatings work as advertized. I've heard some amazing results from the in-house lab tests and from some of the hunters and guides who used them in the field tests before they were released. They are a definite plus if you want a knife that will hold an edge and cut for a long time.
