Real close to ordering a PSK and for my purposes a PSK SR. looks about right. Not real crazy about cord wrap for me because after cleaning a few critters the paracord just doesn't smell like it did when new..:barf:so I'll probably go with canvas micarta.Scott..can you get micarta in OD green? Steel..I realize O1 is easier to sharpen, and it will spark a ferro rod but I always have a striker with me so that's not important to me.Wouldn't A2 be a better choice for all around use? I've always used a sharpmaker on my knives and with a convex grind won't..so is there a video or could someone post a video on sharpening a convex blade? The scales look a little square so how comfortable is it? Scott..are you bringing out a new version of the PSK Sr.? If so I'll wait OR you could post a pic of the new design..:D THANKS for the replies in advance

As long as it's the PSK design, I can do it in A2. As for the scales, they are flat on the sides and radiused on the edges. The scales are 3/16" thick on each side. The handle is about a 1/2" thick including the tang. The green micarta I use in close to OD green. If I knew how to do a video, I'd show how a sharpen a convex grind/edge. It is easier then you think. The new version is posted in the PSK/Tusker hybrid thread. hope that answers your questions. :)

Another PSK question.

I've seen some pics of PSK Jr.'s that appear to have a shorter blade height. Look as though they are closer to 3/4".

Are those available and would it be possible to get one of those in A2? Without slabs or wrap?

Thanks,
Chris

The Jr. is 3/4" wide. It can be done in A2. I just don't have the steel in stock right now. I have to put in an order for A2 sometime this week.

Thanks Scott. No rush. I doubt I'll be buying any knives 'til late may. I have some job issues to sort through so I have to watch my spending for the time being :grumpy:. Just curiousfor now but I do intend to get one.

Just gimme a shout when you're ready Chris. One of the main reasons I use O1 is that I can HT more blades at a time. Plate quenching the air hardened steels is more involved. I can only do so many at a time. Quite honestly, either steel is good. IMO, one isn't any better then the other.

Thanks again Scott. I'll take your word for it. I've got a couple knives in A2 and have a ton of faith in it. Never owned O1 but maybe its time to try something new ;).
I'll be in touch.
