Not really a survival situation, but it did save the day, and make my grandaughter happy. On Sunday my wife, 6 and 8 year old grandaughters, and myself, went for a bike ride on the trails a few miles from our house. We had got about 2 miles from our vehicle, when my youngest grandaughters front tire went flat. I have a small tool bag on my handlebars with a 6" adjustable wrench, small channelock pliers, and screwdrivers in it, so I took the tire off the bike, and removed it from the wheel with the screwdriver. It had a tiny hole in the tube, so I figured what the heck, and took a piece of gorilla tape from my PSK, and wrapped it around the tube. I put it back together, pumped it up, and it actually worked! As I said, not exactly a survival situation, but it beat the heck out of pushing the bike back to the car. PSK - Don`t leave home without it!

It's all about being prepared brother...great job:thumbup: It might not always be a perfect, but having a PSK and using your noodle to improvise is what it's all about!

And it`s still holding air, two days later! That Gorilla tape is good stuff.

Good tail of survival, I'll have to replace my flattened role of duct tape with gorilla tape. I have one of your tin knives but have not used it to save my bacon yet!

I prefer Gorilla tape and Duct tape for patching wounds till I get home, never thought of adding it to my PSK tin though....thanks for the idea !

I just cut down an old credit card and wrap the tape around it, nice and flat.

Glad to hear stories of kits coming in handy and what they were used for. Helps to hear sometimes the more practical side of things. Thanks!

I have been wrapping 2 or 3 ft of duct tape around the little keno pencils(bar) for many years now, packs well and handy for notes, recording vitals on injured or leaving travel directions if lost.

The same goes for my hiking pole as well, might have to replace with gorilla but I still have 2 big silver rolls from clearance

Good to know it will work in a pinch for tube repair

My greatest Macguyver/duct tape triumph was camping south of Kamloops and hiked to a semi alpine lake. Fishing from shore was shallow, weedy and non productive. There was an island maybe 40 yards away with a steep bank on one side indicating a drop off.

Next morning I swim across with the little 5 piece spin rod and tackle in the little nylon pack for hanging food, dayhikes.
On the opposite shore were 2 little 8 ft plywood rowboats with oars stored upsidedown!!!!

Put them in the water and one leaked badly so I took the other one out with the girlfriend. 30 minutes and 2 rainbows the boat starts erupting water from multiple seams and we get to shore with her bailing like crazy with a cut off pop bottle.

I sanded the hull when dry with sand and a flat stick, then used the 1/4 roll of ducttape to shingle the hull. Not a drop in the boat for 3 days and I left in the same place better than I found it.
Went there 2 years later and the little boat was still there and someone had added to the tape. Must be a local that brought the boat in with an atv.

One of my best backpacking trips because of that boat and ducttape. 20 to 30 rainbows a day in the 14in to 5lb range!!!!
