This would make a wonderful project for knife people. To know which dates are considered good (I am talking monthly) and which vendors are willing to sort for you and which ones just ship strictly by age. The “good dates” should not matter to them. Most are not even able to accurately describe what they are selling.

All it would take is one knife nut to champion the cause and create a (Case XX for example) sub forum consisting of a spreadsheet about the fit and finish of knives by pattern and the date given on the box and then the public feedback from all. I know that QC variance and reviewer subjectivity will make this junk data, but I also know most of us would love perusing through it anyway.

It might even make the manufacturers sweat!!
