I'm a firefighter and am looking into getting a new knife and was wondering what most of y'all carry. Currently I use the Kershaw Blur Tactical, but to me, the blade is just too thin and can't hold an edge as great as I'd like. Wanting something more "heavy duty" and was looking into the ZT0200 since it's on sale for $137 on amazon.

i carry a Gerber Hinderer rescue knife in my bunker pants. ive cut some seatbelts and broken some glass with it and it works well, its a little hard to open with bunker gloves on though. in my station pants, i carry a Benchmade Griptillian.

Exactly what I carry; I agree on the tough opening w/ bunker gloves, and wish it had an actual point on the blade. Carry a Gerber AR 3.00 serrated in my station pants.

Any knife can do things like cut seatbelts or clothing so long as it's sharp enough, and smash windows so long as it's long enough in the handle.

Both tasks are safer for everyone involved when done with specialty tools that weigh next to nothing and take up little space.

Just about anything from Spyderco, Benchmade, Emerson, ZT, etc. will work because they are all make great knives from excellent steel and handle materials.

Right now I carry a plain-jane CRKT M16. I would think about one of those fancy "recuse" versions if they were available with a plain edge. I also have a Leatherman PST II on me at work.

I'm a Wilderness First Responder and Swift Water Rescue I. Only (thank God) been on one evac in Ten years. I was taught that using a pointy knife around a person (cutting clothes, seat belts, ect) is a BIG no no. On my PFD I carry a Benchmade Rescue 8 hook and a CRKT Neckolas (the pointy blue one). I typically EDC a Midtech though... Strider SnG, Sebenza or Shirogorov 95 Hati. My GF is a practicing EMT and she only carries a Leatherman & Trauma shears on call. Other cutting instruments (ring cutter, ect.) are in her jump bag.

Sold the lefty Military to a detective and replaced it with a ZT0560.

I have carried a bunch of different blades on duty. Right now I carry a Emerson cqc-10 everyday. I got no complaints.

I suppose I will jump in here with my first post. I hit up Big 5 and buy something that was "59.99 marked down to 12.99." Right now it is a S&W something or other. Plenty sharp for cutting seatbelts (almost never) cling, and other misc items. Losing nice stuff on scene sucks. Although for some odd reason the "cheapies" never seem to disappear.:D

Police officer for five years. My curent load out is, Benchmade 810 left pocket, Esee Isula on my neck and an Esee 3 and a wilson cop tool in my B.O.B.

as a medic i usually carry a spyderco tenacious sharp cheap and pleanty enough knife for the job!

As a Paramedic I'm carrying a strider SMF Rogue warrior version. I work for a private service so I'm not part of the fire service but I work in conjunction with them, so usually I don't half to break things those boys do their job. Every now and then tho I do not have their immediate assistance, I had to use the handle on this knife to break a back door window on a auto, worked great. Knife is expensive but built to be abused, I have never had to cut a seat belt in ten years. They unclip!

FF here. I carried a 0400st (S30v) for 4 yrs. Loved it. Easy to deploy with the assisted flipper. and You will find it cheaper than the 0200 (154cm) by atleast $20 if you look around. Think of it as a bigger tougher better blur (13c26)!

Another FF here. I carry a Wilson Tactical Coptool and a Byrd Cara Cara in my bunkers and some sort of folder(currently a Spyderco Techno) in my work uniform. The Coptool is a far better pry tool than cutter, but it works in a pinch. I'm another guy of the opinion I won't carry something I'm afraid to break or lose at work. Cut open a few half-charred matresses from a rooming house and you'll likely see my point:barf::D
